YMCA Camp Tockwogh Announced as 2015 HKRS Sponsor
YMCA Camp Tockwogh Supports HKRS to Foster Their Goal of Healthy Living in Youth
Thornton, PA (January 13, 2015) – Healthy Kids Running Series (“HKRS”) is pleased to announce a new partnership with YMCA Camp Tockwogh, a spectacular rural camp on 309 well-preserved aces spread over a mile and a half of Maryland’s Chesapeake Bay shoreline.
YMCA Camp Tockwogh’s mission is to foster healthy living and social responsibility through the development of independence, confidence, lifelong learning and character in youth, teens, and families. Camp Tockwogh offers traditional, coed and overnight summer camp, retreats, conferences and year-round teen leadership programs.
Announcing the new sponsorship agreement, HKRS’s VP of Operations, Scott Ely, said he was delighted that YMCA Camp Tockwogh had agreed to team up with Healthy Kids Running Series and that their missions are very much in line.
“When Courtney and I initially connected, it was clear from the get-go that our missions align and that this partnership will benefit HKRS, our participants, and Camp Tockwogh. Camp Tockwogh is a very popular summer camp in the tri-state region and we’re excited for them to be a part of our program heading into 2015.”
“The average American child now spends 7 hours in front of a screen and only 7 minutes outside” said Courtney Izett, Program Director at YMCA Camp Tockwogh. “Partnering with Healthy Kids Running Series allows us to continue our work promoting Healthy Living to children and families year round!”
Camp Tockwogh’s partnership includes ten HKRS towns in and around both Philadelphia and Delaware where a majority of the camp’s patrons live.
This spring marks the 11th series of HKRS, since its 2009 inception in West Chester, PA. In April, Healthy Kids Running Series will be offered in 75+ locations across twenty states and Puerto Rico, the largest season to date for HKRS.
