Karen Moser – HKRS – Richmond, TX

How many seasons have you been a Community Coordinator?
I have been a community coordinator since Fall of 2019.
What inspired you to join HKRS?
My daughters started running with HKRS when they were 2 and 4, they are now 11 and 13. The site we were going to stopped holding the series and my husband and I decided we would be community coordinators so that our girls and friends’ kids would have a place to continue with.
What’s your favorite part of race day and/or what’s your proudest moment as a Community Coordinator?
My favorite part of race is watching the youngest run, the 50yd and 75yd dash are my favorite. Some kids are very competitive haha, and others need a lot of convincing to even walk the distance.
What’s something you’ve learned, whether a skill, a mindset, or a new perspective, since becoming a Community Coordinator?
Since becoming a community coordinator I’ve learned to take a step back and try to see situations from the parents’ side. Some parents are very race oriented and others are out there for their kids to have fun, combining the two sometimes can be tough.
If you could bring one guest to a race day, real or fictional, who would it be and why?
If I could have one guest, I’d invite Bobby McGee so he could see how we are inspiring young kids to have a love of running.
