Community Coordinator Spotlight: Laura Aliberti

Laura Aliberti – HKRS Old Bridge, NJ

How many seasons have you been a Community Coordinator?

Fall 2024 is my 7th season!

Tell us about yourself! What inspired you to join HKRS?

Mid 2020 we made the decision to move to Old Bridge, NJ. I joined the Parks and Recreation board committee looking for ways to become more involved in the community. I heard about the HKRS from another friend from PA. I contacted the main office and here I am running my 7th season!

What is your biggest success as a Coordinator so far (or favorite race day moment)?

I have so many! Biggest success as a coordinator I would say was managing our largest season ever in spring 2023 with 255 runners registered!. My dear friend Shantiana was there as a co-coordinator to help out. And favorite moments are always seeing kids cheering or running alongside our challengers and/or other runners.

What makes your community special?

The unconditional support from the people of the town administration and of course the families! My family and I made so many lifelong friends and connections through the community in the short time that we are living here.

What is some advice you would like to share with fellow New Community Coordinators?

Never forget that you are doing this for the kids! And that you are setting an example of serving your community and living a healthy and active lifestyle.

Fun Fact

I love having video calls with Justine, our program manager,  where I can see her face after I bring up a new crazy idea.  =)
