Victoria Emmitt – HKRS Fort Collins, CO
How many seasons have you been a Community Coordinator?
2 seasons (Spring 2024, Fall 2023)
Tell us about yourself! What inspired you to join HKRS?
I love spending time with my family and friends. We enjoy being active and making memories together. I signed my daughter up for HKRS in Fort Collins Spring 2023 and we had a blast participating in the program and getting to know so many new families in our community. When the Fort Collins coordinator was looking for a replacement, my five year old daughter encouraged me to step up and fill the role. I’m really happy she did!
What is your biggest success as a Coordinator so far (or favorite race day moment)?
Our spring 2024 had a tough start with a couple of bad Colorado weather days, so when we were finally able to have our first race of the spring it was amazing! Everyone was eager and ready. We had double the amount of runners of our last season and our runners and families both new and old were thrilled to start the season together.
What makes your community special?
We live in a city that values being active and enjoying the outdoors in all ages and stages of life, so gathering families who have that in common provides a unique energy and camaraderie. Our race days include a fun and encouraging environment that hopefully inspires our youth to make moving their bodies a part of their lifestyle.
What is some advice you would like to share with fellow New Community Coordinators?
This recent season, I encouraged families to invite their friends and families to experience race days and feel the HKRS mission. I love and believe in what we are offering to youth in our community and I think word of mouth has been vital in our recent growth. Regardless of the number of runners, I am committed to sharing excellent hospitality and making it as fun as possible for our runners. I want each and every runner to feel special and grow in their confidence as they run with us.
Fun Fact
I’m not a runner. While I enjoy being active and playing sports, running is not a hobby of mine – so I love it when I meet people and share my role with HKRS and they assume I’m a runner. I love hosting people and I want my daughter to enjoy being active, so whatever she’s into, I’m her #1 fan and in this case her “Coach” too.
