Halloween Candy Detox

Do you have a tendency to over do it on Halloween candy after trick or treat night? We all do….but there are some great clips to get out of the candy coma! Plan ahead and you will have less of a problem getting back on track!

  1. Hydrate! Start off the day by drinking a large glass of water and eliminate any kind of sugar sweetened drinks.  If you really need a flavored drink, toss in some sliced strawberries, lemon slices, or cucumber rounds for a little kick.
  2. Break the sugar cycle. Even 1 day of over indulging can start a downward spiral into full on candy addiction.  Put away the candy for 5 days, which will help the body to reset itself.  After 5 days, it’s ok to incorporate a small bit of sugar back into your diet, but keep it on the low amount side.
  3. Eat your fruits and veggies.  Try to keep your diet extra heavy on the fruit and veg food groups, and low on the protein.  The extra fiber will aid in digestion and re-set your metabolism.
