Candace Baylor – HKRS Woodstock, GA
How many seasons have you been a Community Coordinator?
I am currently in my 3rd season as a Community Coordinator.
Tell us about yourself! What inspired you to join HKRS?
I was interested in signing my daughter up before the previous coordinator stepped down. After a few messages I heard the series would die without a new coordinator which I felt bad about so I volunteered.
What is your biggest success as a Coordinator so far (or favorite race day moment)?
Definitely the kiddos returning each week, improving times and generally loving the races. Also, an amazing group of volunteers and sponsors that have either been my friends or become my friends. It truly feels like a family event every Sunday.
What makes your community special?
As a small town there is an abundance of support as well as excitement each week. As we have grown it has only motivated me to grow even bigger.
What is some advice you would like to share with fellow Community Coordinators?
Keep at it, don’t get discouraged, and keep connecting with others in the community and you will grow.
Fun Fact:
I hated running growing up and didn’t start until my late 20s and now I’m happy to say my entire family enjoys running.
