Community Coordinator Spotlight: Whitney Miller

Whitney Miller – HKRS – Johnson City, TN

Community Coordinator Spotlight

How many seasons have you been a Community Coordinator?

First season!

Tell us about yourself! What inspired you to join HKRS?

My name is Whitney Miller. My husband, Tyler, and I have three amazing kiddos. We are a homeschool family. I am a 3x American Ninja Warrior Competitor, Virtual Personal Trainer, and I am on the Board of Directors with Neighborhood Ninjas (a nonprofit that works to make the sport of ninja warrior more accessible – we do scholarships, and build obstacle playgrounds for teens/adults – check out the Ninjafit playground in Wilmington, Delaware. Last year we moved to Johnson City, TN from Wilmington, Delaware to be closer to our families. One of the first questions our kids had was if they could still do HKRS.  Unfortunately, there were not any series near us. I chatted with one of my best friends who was formerly the coordinator for Wilmington, DE and she encouraged me to start one in Johnson City.  I love how the mission of HKRS is to get kids and families active and how it fits with my personal mission to make fitness more accessible so I was very excited to bring this program to families in Johnson City.

What is the biggest goal for the local Series as the new Coordinator?

My biggest goal is that kids and families have a positive experience and that kids finish the series feeling more confident than when they started.

What makes your community special?

Johnson City is special because people here have a strong sense of community. They love to support each other. Families show up to help each other out – whether it’s cheering each other’s kids on, volunteering, or supporting local businesses.  They also love sports and outdoor activities.

What Race Day moments are you looking forward to the most?

My favorite race day moments are those finishes when a kiddo beats their previous best time and they go all out at the end. I love the look of accomplishment mixed with exhaustion they have. I also love seeing their parents smile when they know their kiddo just did their absolute best.

Fun Fact!

During filming for ANW in 2024 I had to run the course at 4:30am (most people don’t know that the show films overnight 5pm-5am). In my seasons before 2024 I had been earlier in the schedule.
